  • Rooney & Associates advised Protect America on the sale of their SDM Top 10 ranked Residential Security Company with $3.6 million RMR to Rockbridge Growth Equity and Falcon Capital Investment Advisors.
  • We assisted Rockbridge Growth Equity with $125 Million "Senior Bank Club Deal" including Goldman Sachs, Bank of America and Capital Source.

2005

  • Rooney & Associates facilitated financing for Protect America â€" recapitalized with $100 Million with Fortress and Goldman Sachs.

2004

  • Rooney & Associates advises Protect America to initiate first Direct to Consumer DIY self-installed business model. Rooney installed one of the first DIY self-installed alarm systems in his office in 1999.

2003

  • Rooney facilitates Protect America financing increase with mezzanine financing $5 Million from BIA Digital Partners.

2002

  • Rooney facilitates Protect America financing â€" Recapitalized with $91 Million with CIT Group, a Financial division of TYCO and Sister Company of ADT.

2001

  • Rooney facilitates Protect America financing and recapitalized with Senior Credit Facility increased $20 to $50 Million from Provident and General Electric Credit Corp.

2000

  • Rooney facilitates Protect America financing with mezzanine financing of $5 Million from Harbinger Mezzanine Partners.

1999

  • Rooney facilitates Protect America growth capital by a bulk sale of accounts of more than $300,000 RMR to ADT.
  • ADT hires Rooney to develop a purchase plan for Entergy Security, a firm with $4.6 million in RMR. Rooney provided a detailed Valuation of Entergy, Assisted in Negotiations, the Successful Purchase of Entergy and outlined and worked ADT Senior Management Post Close for the integration of Entergy's four strategic business units into ADT's corresponding business units.

1998

  • Rooney designed for Protect America new financial reporting systems to track new sales and installation creation costs, and monitoring and service department margins to industry standards.
  • Rooney facilitates Protect America financing increase credit facility from $10 to $20 Million with KBK and Sirrom Capital.
  • Rooney facilitates Protect America growth capital by a bulk sale of accounts with more than $600,000 RMR to Protection One.

1997

  • John Rooney starts Rooney & Associates, a financing, consulting, merger and acquisition advisory firm to the alarm industry.
  • Entergy Security retains Rooney & Associates to identify, negotiate and close "bolt on" acquisition companies.
  • Rooney begins a 12 year exclusive engagement with Protect America to consult, advise, identify and facilitate financing, and identifying buyers for a sale of accounts or company.

1996

  • Sentry Alarm Systems of America passes the $1 million RMR mark.
  • Sentry Alarm Systems of America ranks #23 on the SDM 100 list.
  • John Rooney sells Sentry Alarm Systems of America to Entergy Security with a 33% ROI to investors.

1994

  • John Rooney buys Consolidated Southern Security (with $800,000 in RMR) with financing from Sun Bank, N.A., Creditanstalt Corporate Finance, Inc.NationsBanc Capital Corp., Chase Manhatten Capital Corp., CIT Group, and Barriston Associates, Inc. and rebrands the company as Sentry Alarm Systems of America.
  • John Rooney purchases subsidiary Sonitrol Southeast, a sub-franchisor for six states with 30 Dealers including four owned franchises.
  • Rooney consolidates 13 central stations into one under the Sentry Alarm Systems of America brand.
  • Rooney begins 2 year term on the Board of Directors of the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA).
  • Rooney serves as Chair for the CSAA False Alarm Reduction Sub-Committee to standardize Central Station Automation vendors' software and procedures.

1993

  • Rooney is a pioneer member of CSAA Inaugural False Alarm Reduction Committee.

1991

  • Rooney serves as Director on the Sonitrol National Dealers Association Board (SNDA).
  • Chaired the SNDA Strategic Planning Committee, which facilitated a Mission Statement and Business Plan for the Sonitrol Corporation, Distributors and Franchisees.

1990

  • Rooney promoted to Chief Operating Officer, EVP of Consolidated Southern Security.
  • Consolidated Southern Security named 1990 SDM Dealer of the Year.

1989

  • Rooney works as part of the Security Network of America (now NetOne) to establish industry benchmarking performance metrics (system still in use today).

1988

  • Rooney leads Consolidated Southern Security's purchase of Holmes Protection and other "bolt on" acquisitions to expand coverage in the state of Florida.
  • Rooney refinanced Consolidated Southern Security with the addition of mezzanine financing of $10 Million with Westinghouse Capital Corp. and other Capital Providers CB&T, Bridge Capital Advisors, for a total of $40 million for expansion.

1987

  • Rooney Composed and Implemented Standardized Policies and Procedures for six Branch Offices in Florida.
  • Rooney Designed a state of the art Customer Information System for Consolidated Southern Security.

1986

  • November 1986 Rooney is hired by Consolidated Southern Security as Chief Financial Officer, the start of a 7 year career with the company. The company has $80,000 in RMR.
  • Rooney in 8 weeks leads Consolidated Southern Security's purchase of Professional Alarm Services, Sonitrol Southeast, Sentry Alarm, Dictograph, and Sonitrol of Jacksonville with over $500,000 RMR.

1985

  • Rooney earns Masters of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Finance from Wayne State University.

1981-1985

  • Rooney begins 5 year career as Corporate Controller for Guardian Alarm in Detroit.
  • Rooney designs and implements financial reporting systems for Guardian Alarm.
  • Composed and Implemented Standardized Policies and Procedures for Guardian's Alarm, Guard and Armored Divisions.
  • Rooney establishes a $8 million Senior Bank Credit Facility with National Bank of Detroit for Guardian Alarm.
  • Rooney leads 50 year old Guardian Alarm' acquisition efforts from $325,000 RMR to $1.2 million RMR through major acquisitions including Certified Alarm, Michigan Alarm, Interstate Alarm, and Metro Alarm. Guardian's Free Cash Flow increased from $1 to $5 Million per year.

1973-1980

  • Rooney begins career in the alarm industry after college at a Branch Office in Operations for ADT.
  • Within one year of working with ADT, Rooney is appointed to the position of Accounting Supervisor.
  • Within two years of working with ADT, Rooney is promoted to Regional Accounting Manager, overseeing 25 accounting personnel for 30 branch offices.
  • Rooney prepared operating budgets for 30 ADT field offices in the Detroit Region.
  • The Detroit Region was named "Region of the Year" by ADT 5 consecutive years in a row.

1972

  • Rooney graduates from Ball State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Science (Mathematics).
